It seems like you just keep hearing more and more about the increasing bear population in southern Missouri. Recently, two anglers on Lake Taneycomo spotted a bear from their boat. This story will only add to the deluge of stories and sightings. I keep thinking how glad I am that these folks were in a boat and not wading!

I've read from multiple news outlets that the Missouri Department of Conservation is doing its best to get a handle on identifying the size of the bear population in the state but I have to think that this is going to take some time.
