If you follow this blog routinely, you know that I try to support an organization called Frontline Fly Fishing when I have the opportunity. Frontline Fly Fishing's mission is, "To teach and develop fly fishing and related skills to promote healing for current and former military, first responders and others." To elaborate a little more, this quote appears on the Frontline Fly Fishing website as well: "Our community brings together first responders from all walks of life—firefighters, police officers, medical personnel, and combat veterans. Through fly fishing events, we provide a peaceful retreat from their demanding roles, fostering connections and offering a much-needed respite."
The organization is ran by and made up of some of the nicest, most caring, and thoughtful individuals you might ever meet. They have a passion for fly fishing as well as helping others get through some difficult moments. Recently, I was honored by members of the organization in a way that I never expected. I was informed that educators are also included as first responders. What that means for me personally is that I am no longer just a supporter, but I am now a member. It is an honor to be a part of an organization that is made up of such amazing people that I consider mentors as well as heroes.
I apologize for getting a little carried away but my feelings for Frontline Fly Fishing are strong. The second point of this post is to inform folks about the new website that Frontline Fly Fishing has launched. You don't have to be a member of the group to read the fly tying tutorials, support Frontline Fly Fishing, or purchase from the store. The site is updated regularly and so is the blog that you can find on the site as well. There is a large variety of topics covered on the blog that range from fly tying tools, to fly selection, to different fly rod types. There are a lot more topics covered on the blog and I highly encourage you to give it a look. I bet you will find something that interests you.
