Let me lead off with the fact that I haven't been fishing lately. Between wet and windy weather compiled with drastic changes in temperature, fishing conditions have been volatile. When the weather gets coupled with my oldest son's choir performances and my youngest son's piano and soccer hobbies, it's been hard to squeeze in some time to hit the water. I've also been working on some projects around my house an in my yard on top of running a small yard mowing business with my oldest son. So yeah, things have been too busy to go fishing, unfortunately. However, fishing is never far from my mind and I will be hitting the water soon.
As a matter of fact, I am taking my middle school fly fishing club on a short fishing trip this evening. If this lake stays true to form, we should be catching a lot crappie with most of them being pretty small. Later on this week, my buddy Corey and I are going to hopefully have a short cast and blast trip up at our family farm. We plan to turkey hunt early on Saturday morning and hopefully squeeze in some bass fishing on Friday night and late Saturday morning.
I have also been making a few fly fishing related items on my 3D printers. I made a 3D printed Darth Vader business card/pen holder, a bunch of small fly boxes, and some strike indicators. I also made a fly rod holster that I hope to try out tonight. It looks like a great gadget to hold your rod while changing flies or replacing tippet/leader. Finally, I am proud to say that I have been selling a few of my 3D printed items. I sent a Jaws-inspired keychain that has a retro hotel vibe to a nice lady in South Carolina.
I'm excited for life to slow down a little bit and spend some highly anticipated time on the water. Hopefully my next post will include actual fish or at least fishing related info. Until then, I hope you are able to get outside and enjoy some spring weather and activities. The heat of summer will be here sooner rather than later so soak this season up while you can!
