Did you hear the fishing story about the guy that caught the 9-pound goldfish? This fish was caught at Lake Remembrance in Blue Springs, Missouri. I have fished that lake MANY times and never saw anything like this before! However, I have fished a couple of other lakes that HAVE had schools of goldfish in them. While I agree with the Missouri Department of Conservation that people shouldn't release their pets into the wild, it still makes for a pretty cool story and I don't see goldfish becoming an invasive species anytime soon. As with many things like this, more questions arise after the catch than there were before the catch. Are there more? Did he release it? If he kept it, what did he do with it? How many more koi/goldfish are in area lakes? What did it bite on? The article says the fish was snagged, is that an accurate statement? What is a go-to goldfish fly? While the world may never know the answers to some of these questions, the wondering can be the fun part.
