If you are interested in getting started in the sport of fly fishing, the Missouri Department of Conservation is putting on a two-day fly fishing class in the Kansas City area. Each session will be three hours long with the first session covering information and casting techniques while the second session will involve fishing at James A. Reed Conservation Area. Whether you, a friend, or family member would like to get started, just click the link below to learn more. Participants must be 12 years of age. Aside from learning fly fishing basics, I really appreciate how this class will show how to catch fish on still water. Way too many people believe that fly fishing can/should only be done on a trout stream. This could not be further from the truth and it is admirable that MDC is showing possibilities that try to break the stereotype.
