Missouri Conservationist Article
Missouri is a great place to live. It has lots of hunting opportunities, plenty of places to fish, and a Department of Conservation that is second to none in the country. The Missouri Department of Conservation does a lot of things well and getting Missouri citizens involved in the outdoors is one of those things. From taking youth on float trips, to women's outdoor skills days, to free kids fishing days, we really do have a lot to be proud of in terms of those that we entrust to conserve our natural resources. Even more examples of the amazing work that the MDC does is included in the most recent article of the Missouri Conservationist.
In the current issue, there is an article titled Ready, Willing, and Empowered. The article describes how folks with different disabilities are being supported in hunting, shooting sports, and fishing. It is an article that will make you appreciate what you have and will potentially move you to tears. There is a small section of the article titled Veterans Find Healing in Fly Fishing. It is a moving story about how fly fishing brought a renewed sense of hope to a man named Lewis. It will remind you of the peace that can be found in fly fishing for those that NEED it as well as yourself because hey, we all need peace sometimes. You might also find a newer or deeper appreciation for what the hard working folks at our Missouri Department of Education do for us and others on a daily basis.
