I met Paul Brown, founder of KC Fly Company, a while back at the Fly Fishing Film Tour viewing in Kansas City. It became obvious that Paul has a wide range of fly fishing skills and has a lot of passion for the sport. He started fishing bass tournaments at a young age and the uptempo pace of tournament fishing was something that fit his personality. Fast forward a few years and Paul found himself watching some Bran Wise videos (Fly Fishing the Ozarks). The large, intricate flies grabbed Paul's attention and the idea of fishing big flies for big fish sank it's hooks into Paul (metaphorically speaking since he didn't really hook himself). Covering a lot of water, targeting bigger fish, and seeing fish chase down your fly like they are angry at it are all highlights of the big streamer game. (You can see how this method for Paul has its roots in bass fishing). Paul is now a fishing guide in the Bristol Bay Region of Alaska and has started KC Fly Company as an additional venture.
