On my Etsy store I sell more small jigs than any other fly and it isn't even close. My top three sellers are John Deere jigs, The Brave (streamer), and Near Deere jigs. With that in mind, I have a couple of new flies that are new to the store and you guessed it, they are small jigs. They are both tied on 1/80 ounce jigs and size 10 hooks. One is black with a yellow eye and the other is white with a black eye. I tied the flies in these colors so anglers could be prepared for both murky and clear waters. I would recommend fishing the black one in more stained water and the white one for water with more visibility. I only have 15 of the black and 6 of the white for now but more white ones are on the way.

The reason that jigs under indicators seem to sell so much and catch so many fish is because of their versatility. They can be fished in moving water or on still water. They can be used in shallow water or deeper water depending on how long your leader is and where you set your indicator. You can fish them completely still, give them a little action, or even fish them on a steady retrieve.
When it comes to tying flies (for myself or others), I try to stick to natural colors like olive, white, and black most of the time. The way I see it is that if mother nature is going to use those colors more than anything else, then I guess I should too. Don't get me wrong, gray, yellow, and chartreuse have their places too, but I'm not going to try to be smarter than years of evolution.
