If you live in the St. Joseph, Missouri, area and are new to fly fishing or are interested in getting into the sport, the Missouri Department of Conservation is offering class that you might be interested in. The class will be held from 6-7 PM on Thursday, Sept. 9 at Krug Park Lagoon. You'll learn about some of the basic pieces of equipment as well as some basic casting techniques. On a personal note, Krug Park is also a lake that is stocked with trout in late fall and during the winter. I had a couple of GREAT days of trout fishing up there last year and definitely plan on going back this year as well. If you haven't fished there before, this might be a good way to not only learn some fly fishing skills, but also get acclimated to the area. Registration for the class is required and you can find that link as well as additional information by clicking on the link below.
