On Tuesday, April 6, my middle school fly fishing club traveled to Lone Jack Conservation Area at fished the main lake. We ended up catching about 20 fish on dark-colored flies which were located approximately 3 feet below a strike indicator. Most of the fish we caught were crappie but we had some bluegill and small bass mixed in there as well. Every fish we caught came on the north side of the handicap pier. Some of the fish were 30-40 feet off the bank while others where 3-6 feet. Some of the fish were enticed by a stop and pause retrieve while others like a slow, steady retrieve. I couldn't get a single bite on a John Deere (which was weird) but The Standard came through and helped me land a few! It might not look like much but this thing works!
